Providing an explanation – what is it about?

Providing an explanation is a procedure requested by the police from either a witness or a person suspected of criminal activity. It is usually conducted orally, where the person providing the explanation visits a police station and answers questions posed by the police. However, it can also be submitted in writing.

Practical example

An example is a situation where a police officer called a client and arranged a date for them to come to the police station to provide an explanation regarding a certain matter in the capacity of a witness. The client was nervous and feared that they might face problems themselves, so they asked us to accompany them to oversee the process.
